CAO Sweetheart Cocktail for the ArtsOur new fundraiser was sweet indeed! We served up a great mix for our Sweetheart Cocktail for the Arts presenting an event to fall in love with. And what wasn't to love? From China Doll's confectional hairdo to the polished corporate suits, guests were treated to an exciting evening that showcased both achievements in and support for the arts in Ottawa. Honorary co-hosts for this evening, Councillors Christine Leadman and Georges Bédard welcomed fellow Councillors, members of the business community, cultural administrators, arts patrons and artists to a grand setting in Jean Pigott Hall at Ottawa City Hall. Deborah Davis and Segue to Jazz set the tone for the evening with their sparkling jazz performance. Guests enjoyed delicious food from Thyme and Again, Todrics Catering, Shanghai Restaurant, and Stubbe's Chocolates. The CAO Business and the Arts Recognition Award was announced during the evening. The 2010 recipient was Akash Sinha, President of Dharma Developments. In addition, the evening was the occasion to announce the finalists in three award categories, The Victor Tolgesy Arts Award, CAO Mid-Career Artist Award and the RBC Emerging Artist Award. Award presentations will take place at the CAO Arts Awards Lunch on April 21 in collaboration with our Founding Partner RBC. It was a splendid evening to network, make new connections and support the CAO. Our Silent Auction offered a tempting array of items and our guests were generous in their bids. The CAO offers a big Thank You to the businesses and organizations that contributed to the Silent Auction.
A huge THANK YOU to all our committed volunteers who made this event such a sensation!
